Brian Kopp received his BSEE, MSEE, and Ph.D. from New Mexico State University (NMSU) while working at the NASA White Sands New Mexico Ground Terminal of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System. His Ph.D. research on satellite communications was conducted as a NASA research fellow for the Goddard Space Flight Center and completed in 1994. Since that time Brian has worked for the US Navy, he has co-founded a high-tech start-up manufacturing wireless data modems for the petro-chemical industry, and he has provided telecommunications consulting services mainly in the satellite and transportation industries. While he still consults part time, in 2014 he became an assistant professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of North Florida where he has started the Advanced Telecommunications Research Program with a focus on satellite communications and advanced wireless technologies. Brian lives with his family in Jacksonville, Florida and is very active in the amateur radio community.
