Status report on NWS climate services implementation at the regional and local level
Judith A. Koepsell, Climate Services Division/OCWWS/NWS/NOAA, Silver Spring, MD; and R. E. Livezey
In October 2000 climate was added to the scope of services provided by National Weather Service (NWS). Since that time, a lot of progress has been made in implementing climate services throughout NWS at all levels.
This presentation will address the activities that have been completed in the last year and those that are planned for the immediate future. These include standardized Web pages (at all levels), outreach workshops, local products (using downscaling and compositing methods), and new training opportunities, especially those that address the importance of data now and into the future.
