Validation of the GSWP2 baseline simulation

Kenji Tanaka, Kyoto University, Uji, Japan; and K. Yorozu, R. Hamabe, and S. Ikebuchi

In this study, the dataset of GSWP2 baseline simulation by SiBUC is analyzed and compared with surface measurement. Not only the model output such as surface fluxes and surface state variables but also model input (forcing variables) is also investigated. As for the forcing data, NCDC global SOD is utilized to check the daily maximum and minimum temperatures, daily precipitation, and daily average humidity. As for the model output, surface measurement data from the GAME regional projects (GAME-T, GAME-Tibet, GAME-Siberia, GAME-HUBEX) are utilized to cover the wide range of climatic condition and various kind of landuse/landcover. Alghough the data period of GAME does not match that of GSWP2, the characteristics of the seasonal variation of surface energy and water budget components and state variables can be compared.
