MVC will be participating for the first time in the National Science Foundation sponsored American Meteorological Society's (AMS) Online Weather Studies (OWS) Diversity Program during the spring semester, 2006. Mountain View College is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSU) located in the southwest quadrant of Dallas, Texas, with a typical student enrollment of more than 5000 students. The course will be taught as a combination of traditional classroom lectures and online study utilizing real-time weather data. The class will serve as a useful science elective for prospective teachers and aviation majors. Additional potential students would include local public school teachers who are interested in expanding their science knowledge base.
