International EWOC's

Faye McCollum, AMS/AERA, Columbus, GA

Meteorological and Oceanographic societies from around the world join forces for the Seventh International Conference on School and Popular Meteorological and Oceanographic Education. The next global conference of the EWOC's (Educators of Weather, Oceans and Climate) will be held in Boulder, Colorado, USA on July 3-7, 2006.

The EWOC programs focus on education and outreach initiatives, hands-on activities, and the role of technology as a teaching and learning tool. In addition there will be a weather forecasting contest for school children incorporated into the conference.

The major purpose of this presentation is to encourage greater participation of educators, scientists, meteorologists, oceanographers and media personnel in efforts of exploring and discovering the global impact of climate, weather, and the oceans as they relate to our planet. You too can become an EWOC by joining in the partnerships and initiatives promoted by this international organization. Begin your journey now by visiting the EWOC site and log onto http://www.ametsoc.org/AMS. See you at the Conference!
