This paper entails an assessment of TAMDAR system perfomance including accuracy of atmospheric data (temperature, relative humidity, winds, icing and turbulence) and performance of the satellite data link and the ground data processing center. The TAMDAR system is designed to provide atmospheric and position data on a wide variety of aircraft types. Results of a study on 5 UND Piper Seminoles is used along with results of flights on the UND Citation II research aircraft and the Mesaba SAAB 340 fleet. Comparisons with other sources such as Raobs data and Citation reference data is used for the evaluation.
