The Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer on Aura

Michael R. Gunson, JPL, Pasadena, CA; and R. Beer

The Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer on the Aura satellite focuses on measurements of tropospheric composition, primarily ozone, carbon monoxide and water vapor. The cooled FTIR spectrometer provides sufficiently high spectral resolution measurements of the upwelling thermal infrared radiance to infer the vertical distrubtion of these gases through the troposphere. These data will be used to study regional sources of pollutants and continental-scale pollution flow. This talk will describe early results from the first year on-orbit.
