EWOCFest: Hands-on Meteorology (submitted as part of a joint proposal)

Egg in the Bottle, Wind Bag, Instant Snow, Tornado Tube

This presentation is part of a proposed joint endeavor to provide hands-on meteorology and oceanography demonstrations for the public and/or teachers present at EWOC 2006. Modeled after the successful “WeatherFest” held at the AMS Annual Meetings, the “EWOCfest” hopes to provide teachers with hands-on demonstrations that teach sophisticated concepts.

This team consists of two AMS Education Resource Agents and the NWS Educational Outreach Director at the Mt. Holly NWSFO. Students and teachers alike will be able to participate in these exciting and fun hands-on demonstrations.

This presentation will demonstrate scientific concepts that apply to weather and oceanography, but in a manner that is guaranteed to fun for all!
