ROMAN, Realtime Observation Monitoring and Analysis Network, has been designed for use by fire weather professionals and others requiring access to current fire weather conditions around the nation (www.met.utah.edu/roman). ROMAN relies upon the software developed as part of MesoWest to access, archive, and disseminate weather observations throughout the United States, with emphasis upon the western United States.
This paper (that follows the overview of ROMAN by Tim Matthewson) will provide more details on the procedures developed to display the weather information, perform quality control upon the data, and integrate the surface weather observations into hourly analyses at 2.5 km resolution over the western United States.
