Even though high-resolution mesoscale models have been used recently for wildfire management, this can be especially challenging because forecast models often need to be rapidly relocated because of changing requirements. This paper describes a mesoscale modeling system that satisfies this need because it can be rapidly relocated, by non-experts in modeling, using a graphical interface. This system was used operationally in support of wildfire management efforts in Colorado and Arizona in the summer of 2002. A new attribute of this system is that weather graphics, or output from decision-support systems, can be sent to forward-deployed fire managers through cell phones or personal digital assistants.
