Testing of a Lagrangian PDF model for the prediction of concentration distributions from localized continuous release in atmospheric boundary layers

Massimo Cassiani, Duke University and Università di Urbino Facoltà di Scienze Ambientali, Durham, NC; and P. Franzese and A. Radicchi

A Lagrangian stochastic probability density function (PDF) model is evaluated with laboratory experiments of dispersion from continuous point source in atmospheric flow. Results from comparisons with a wind tunnel generated neutral boundary layer, a water tank reproducing convective conditions and a continuous release within a canopy are shown. The performance of the model as an effective tool for the predictions of the full concentration PDF are discussed.
