The Air Force Combat Climatology Worldwide Narrative Climatology program

The Air Force Combat Climatology Center has recently completed a massive worldwide narrative climatology project. Beginning in 1988, this project resulted in the researching, writing and publishing of narrative climatologies covering the Third World. Aimed at a widely diverse audience, each served as a master aviation weather and climate reference for the region concerned. They serve as master reference materiale for military meteorologists forecasting for each region. They also act as a teaching text for newly assigned forecasters. Users range from new graduates of the DoD Weather Journeyman course to newly commissioned weather officers to senior staff meteorologists assigned to unified commands. Each volume discusses the weather and climate of a common climate region of the world affecting military ground and air operations. Available in paper, microfiche, and as an integral part of a "Theater Climatic File" CD-ROM, these studies provide an answer to the question of "What is the weather there and how do I forecast it?" for areas where there has been no American military meteorologists for over 50 years. Examples will be briefly discussed.
