The Air Force Combat Climatology Center has released a new version of Engineering Weather Data (EWD). The original manual, released in 1978, contained information for sizing heating and cooling equipment as well as estimating energy consumption for those systems. This manual has been in widespread use both within and outside of DoD for the last 20 years. The format for the updated EWD has been completely changed. The new design values are compatible with the current thresholds used by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. There are also new products that include latent and sensible heating/cooling information, joint probabilities of temperature and mixing ratio, and wind roses. EWD contains documentation that describes each product and suggests appropriate and inappropriate uses of the information. The products and format of EWD are a result of close collaboration between the engineering community and AFCCC. The new EWD is distributed via the web as pdf files. Currently there are over 800 completed sites. This paper describes the products within EWD and how those products were generated.
