Turbulent flux comparison from R/V measurements during CATCH/FASTEX and FETCH experiments

During CATCH/FASTEX (North Atalantic, 1997) and Fetch (Mediterranean dea, 1998) experiments, measurements on a foredeck intrumented mast allow to derive turbulent fluxes, respectively on R/V Le Suroit and l'Atlante. Sea state and atmospheric conditions encountered in the two experiments were very different. A motion package allowed to correct for ship motion and therefore fluxes of momentum, sensible and latent heat are calculated by the eddy correlation method. The results are compared between experiments, as well with results obtained by the inertial dissipation method.
