The Bow Echo and Mesoscale Convective Vortex Experiment (BAMEX) is currently being planned for the upper-midwestern United States during spring/summer 2003. The science objectives being adressed by BAMEX require a combination of airborne and mobile ground-based observing systems. This presentation will discuss the objectives and operational strategy for the mobile ground-based systems. As currently envisioned, the ground-based platforms will include a suite of mobile Doppler radars, mobile GPS upper-air sounding systems, mobile mesonets, and the Mobile Integrated Profiling System.
