Worldwide, aviation meteorological services face major challenges in meeting increasingly demanding requirements from their customers. However, scientific and technological advances, as well as new ways of organizing delivery of services, also provide major opportunities for better meeting those customer needs.

The Aeronautical Meteorology Programme of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) plays a pivotal role in the global co-ordination and advancement of meteorological services for aviation. It is carried out under the technical responsibility of the Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology (CAeM), one of eight WMO Technical Commissions. This talk will cover the role of CAeM, and its plans and dreams for the improvement of services.
