The Grell convective parameterization was changed to include effects of lateral mixing in clouds and its interaction with the cloud microphysics scheme. In addition the new scheme allows for an ensemble of closure assumptions that determine the location and amount of convection as well as an ensemble of feedback assumptions. Up to 2000 versions of the scheme may be called at each gridpoint and time step. It has currently been implemented into RUC as well as MM5. In this talk, we will present results from operational RUC model simulations that use this scheme, as well as results from model simulations using a research version of the RUC. Detailed analyses of the ensemble results will be given.
