An Evaluation of UCAR's Remote Sensing Using Satellites Module

Kathryn M. Ginger, UCAR, Boulder, CO; and M. Marlino and T. Reeves

The University of Georgia was awarded a contract by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) to conduct a formative evaluation of the World Wide Web-based module entitled "Remote Sensing Using Satellites" [http://www.comet.ucar.edu/nsflab/]. The evaluation was conducted under the guidance of Mary R. Marlino, Director of the Program for the Advancement of Geoscience Education (PAGE) at UCAR.

The website underwent extensive usability testing and formative review. This presentation will demonstrate the site, discuss the process of usability testing, and provide an overview of the formative evaluation process and results. A variety of data collection methods will also be presented (including observations, questionnaires, interviews, and usability testing), which were used for the purpose of enhancing the Remote Sensing Using Satellites module.
