Tasks supervision at ECMWF

ECMWF monitor (SMS) was originally designed to schedule and supervise the operational suite. An X/Motif based user interface (XCDP) was developed to help operators and analysts observe the progress of the suite. Because of their ease of use, SMS and XCDP are now used for a great variety of tasks, such as migrating files, running research experiments, re-analysis projects, handling data services orders, production of web pages and much more. To accommodate this diversity of users and usages, XCDP, the user interface, was totally redesigned.
