Reaching across the University

David E. Stooksbury, Univ. of Georgia, Athens, GA

The University of Georgia has developed undergraduate and graduate programs in the atmospheric sciences that reach across the University. The programs were designed to meet the educational and the vocational needs of a diverse student body. Students majoring in any science or engineering program may participate in the atmospheric sciences programs. In developing the programs, we built upon many of the recommendations for the future training of atmsopheric sciences. The progrms are broader than many traditional atmospheric sciences progrms. These programs take advantage of UGA strenghts in the agricultural, earth, engineering, environmental, marine, and physical sciences. There are currently 16 atmospheric scientists housed in 8 academic unit and three college at UGA.
