First launched in 1995, Windows to the Universe is in its 6th year of providing up to date information for students, teachers and the popular Internet user. Providing the user with NASA news and images, links to art, music and literature, and interactive questions and answers for scientists are just a few of the many areas that Windows has built up into an award winning site utilized in classrooms, libraries and museums both nationally and internationally.
The main objective of Windows, funded primarily by NASA, is to develop an innovative and engaging experience for users that spans the Earth and Space sciences. The site is rich with documents, images, movies, animations and data sets that explore the Earth and Space sciences and the historical and cultural ties between science, exploration and the human experience. Ties are evident in the atmospheric, oceanic, and geologic disciplines. The user may choose to view text written at three levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
