Interactive Symposium on AWIPS

6.5

Using “Storm Info Master” (SIM), Soover, Taftrack and other AWIPS applications locally developed at WFO Tulsa

James M. Frederick, NOAA/NWS, Tulsa, OK; and S. A. Amburn

SIM is a software package that allows the user to interactively display multiple types of Storm related data sets. The program graphically depicts storm cell tracks, storm vil tracks, local storm reports, spotter locations and warning information. The information can be time matched to aid in local storm verification, used to calculate statistics or used to create summary images for events, seasons or years. The spotter contact information is stored in a database and can be edited using the program or exported. Soover, a temperature and probability of precipitation verification program and Taftrack, a TAF verification program that is used to create the Southern Region TAF verification web page will be demonstrated. Other locally developed applications, including a useable D2D radar archive and a stage III areal precipitation verification program will be demonstrated.
