In August 2001 the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) launched a new internet website {http://www.ncep.noaa.gov/NCO/PMB/nwprod/analysis/} devoted to meteorological forecast graphics from four of the NCEP's major models. These models include the Eta, the Aviation [AVN], the Medium Range Forecast [MRF] and the Nested Grid model [NGM]. This website is updated in real time so forecast graphics are available on the internet when products from these models become available to National Weather Service forecast offices and other users of the NCEP forecast data. Initially only a small number of forecast graphics will be available at this website. These graphics include basic parameters such as heights, temperature, moisture, mean sea level pressure, 1000-500 mb thickness, and vorticity. The graphics are produced in three different resolutions to accommodate various users display and download capabilities. In addition to these images, several 4-panel product displays are also available from this website. Future enhancements to this website will include more NCEP forecast models and the addition of a web-based movie player to view animations of a series of images for each model.
