Some Results from the NOAA-17 On-orbit Verification

The launch of NOAA-17 on June 23, 2002 marked yet another addition to the NOAA polar orbiting fleet. This satellite departs from earlier satellites in that it is the first to occupy a mid-morning orbital plane, at about 10 AM local sun time. A period of on-orbit verification (OV) is performed by NOAA and NASA before the satellite is declared operational to assure that the instruments meet specification. This paper reports on the NOAA portion of the OV tests.
