James J. Stagliano Jr., Enterprise Electronics Corp., Enterprise, AL; and J. Helvin, J. Brock, P. Siebold, and D. Nelson
The Evansville New Generation radar is the culmination of forty years of S-band radar development, from primarily magnetron systems to computer controlled klystron systems. The New Generation radar incorporates the latest in power, control, and receiver technology providing a leap in performance and reliability. The New Generation radar is designed for a long life cycle of 24/7 operation with a minimum of maintenance and human intervention. In this paper we reveal the technology employed in the New Generation radar. Finally, we gaze over the horizon and render glimpses of future generations of weather radar.
