A Chilling Educational Experience (Mt. Washington Winter Edu Trip)
This poster will document an educational outreach program
between the Mt. Washington Observatory and the Mt. Holly, NJ Forecast Office of the National Weather Service. Offered as a continuing education activity, alumni from the AMS DataStreme and WES education programs traveled to the top of Mt. Washington in February 2002. The trip provided the participants an opportunity to encounter some of "the world's worst weather", which, in itself, is a tremendous learning experience. While at the top of the mountain, educational activities were conducted, both inside and out, by the Mt. Washington Observatory trip leader, Bryan Yeaton. This poster will show the continued dedication of the NWS, the AMS, and the Mt. Washington Observatory to work together to provide teachers and future teachers an opportunity to engage in learning activities that will enhance their professional development, so that they will be able to better educate their students.
