Incorportating Real-Time Data into the Classroom. The Digital GLOBE Project: Visualizing a Sustainable Future

Combining AMS Educational materials, classroom experience, and the technical expertise of the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Mt. Holly, NBC10, and the Franklin Institute, professional development workshops are offered where teachers from throughout the Delaware Valley have the opportunity to increase content knowledge, and learn hands-on activities and demostrations to bring into the classroom. Materials from the AMS DataStreme Project, Water in the Earth System, as well as modules from Project Atmpshere and the Maury Project, supplemented by the Educational Outreach Materials of the NWS, and resources from NBC10 and the franklin Institute, combine to deliver a comphrensive introduction to using real time data in the classroom. Teachers are also able to receive professional development hours towards State requirements.
