Somnath Baidya Roy, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ; and C. P. Weaver, G. Hurtt, and S. W. Pacala
A time-series of the vegetation cover over the continental U.S. was obtained using the Ecosystem Dynamics (ED) model. The Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS) was used to simulate the impact of the change in landcover on the climate of the U.S. in July. The results showed a statistically significant cooling over large areas in the midwest of upto 2 degrees Celcius. The precipitation signal was mixed with significant reduction in the midwest.
