FXC (FX-Collaborate/FX-Connect) is a meteorological data display system that allows clients at remote locations to communicate with each other and interact with a common graphics display. The system consists of a server that uses the AWIPS code to generate its meteorological products and Java code for the client to display and manipulate the display.

Several NWS forecast offices are evaluating FXC for inter-site coordination to improve the quality of the NDFD (National Digital Forecast Database) products. Also, the South-East River Forecast Center is testing FXC to communicate precipitation and flooding information with emergency management offices in several states. Other agencies, such as the USAF at Vandenberg and Kennedy Space Center are using FXC in conjunction with AWIPS for briefings prior to a rocket launch. A number of enhancements have been made to FXC to meet specific user requirements. These include a slide presentation and editing capability, image import from an AWIPS display, automatic data product display and sequencing, elaborate drawing capability, data review, and improved system flexibility. The presentation demonstrates some of these special features and discusses the implementation of FXC by some of the users.
