THE AREAL EXTENT OF THE CONVECTING REGION AND TROPICAL CLIMATE

The tropical climate is sensitive to the areal extent of the convecting region (equivalent to the ascending branch of the Hadley circulation), according to simple box models of the Tropics. Here it is considered what processes control this extent, along with how this extent might change and feed back upon in response to climate forcing
