Trends in continental U.S. direct and indirect tropical cyclone fatalities from 2013-2023 will be presented. A summary of causes of recent indirect fatalities, which include deaths that largely occur after tropical cyclone events from accidents, carbon monoxide poisonings, medical conditions, etc., will also be provided. These fatality trends and results will be compared to previously published studies from the 1963-2012 period and strategies for messaging to the public regarding these hazards will be discussed.
