This poster is part of the Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5) poster series. NCA5 Chapter 11 - Agriculture, Food Systems, and Rural Communities addresses how the U.S. agriculture and food systems, which we depend on for food and fiber, interact with and are impacted by the changing climate. The chapter discusses how climate change is projected to reduce the availability and affordability of food, with impacts across society, though increased stress on at risk groups. It also discusses the anticipated unique challenges and opportunities that rural communities are expected to face as a result of the instability and increased varaibility of the climate under new forcings. The AMS community is invited to explore the Agriculture, Food Systems, and Rural Communities chapter as well as the full NCA5—the preeminent source of climate information for the United States. NCA5 is developed by the U.S. Global Change Research Program and is scheduled for release in late 2023.
