Rainfall induces a cooling of the earth’s surface and the associated sensible heat flux (QP) can be estimated given the rain rate and temperature difference between the surface and the raindrops. This study estimates sensible heat of rainfall using available observations and the ERA5 reanalysis in Darwin, Australia during 2009. Overall, reanalysis QP seems to be greater than that from the observations.
