Session 4 Environmental Justice: Cross-Cutting Methods & Lessons for Health Investigations

Monday, 29 January 2024: 4:30 PM-6:00 PM
344 (The Baltimore Convention Center)
Host: 15th Conference on Environment and Health
Cochairs:
Gregory S. Jenkins, Penn State University, Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences, University Park, PA and Haley Staudmyer

Longstanding disparities in exposures to environmental hazards and the accumulation of hazards in marginalized communities undermine equity and threaten vulnerable populations in the U.S. and worldwide. We invite abstracts on projects that help to characterize current environmental health injustices and ways to address these harms through equity-focused interventions. In addition, we invite abstracts that involve interdisciplinary methods, mixed qualitative and quantitative methods, and research shaped by community voices and lived experiences. Abstracts that relate to recent environmental justice policy developments, including the Justice40 initiative, EJ screening tools, and EJ-focused grant programs are particularly welcomed.
