Coastal flood hazards have significant impacts on coastal communities, including harms to commerce, public infrastructure, private citizens, and human health. Coastal flooding is known to be caused by a number of factors, including wind set-up and storm surges, high tides or high lake levels, large waves, sea level rise, and significant hydrologic inflows from streams and rivers. It is known that an integrated, coupled modeling approach is needed for the community to progress to the next generation of total water prediction and forecasting. This session will highlight the advancements in modeling and supporting technologies to meet this challenge.
