Status of the UW-CIMSS Objective Dvorak Technique (ODT)

Operational use of the Objective Dvorak Technique (ODT) continued at the Satellite Analysis Branch and the Tropical Prediction Center, as well as quasi-operationally at the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Central Pacific Hurricane Center, Australian Bureau of Meteorology, and Air Force Weather Agency during the 2000-2001 tropical cyclone season(s). A performance review of the ODT will be presented. In addition, modifications and upgrades to the algorithm will be reported, including ongoing research regarding rapid intensification and expansion of the storm intensity range of operation to tropical storm and weaker systems.
