Natural Atmospheric Environment Model Development for the National Aeronautics Space Administration’s Second Generation Reusable Launch Vehicle
Barry C. Roberts, NASA/MSFC, Huntsville, AL; and G. Overbey, F. Leahy, and G. W. Batts
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration began developing a new reusable launch vehicle this year. The program office, located at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), is called the 2nd Generation Reusable Launch Vehicle (2GRLV). As development of the 2GRLV begins, current atmospheric models will have to be refined and new models will have to be developed to support development of the 2GRLV. A summary of atmospheric environment model development by the Environments Group at MSFC in support of the 2GRLV program is given.
