Vanessa Pearce, NWS, Wichita, KS; and T. Bedard

As part of ongoing collaborations within the Weather-Ready Nation program, AccuWeather and NWS Wichita have been collaborating to provide improved decision-support services for heat stress for their common partners in south central Kansas. Together they have designed and delivered an extreme heat tabletop exercise to the South Central Kansas Healthcare Coalition, presented a heat stress seminar and assisted a local school district with refining their high school athletics heat plan. The partners are continuing to enhance collaborations between the public sector and America’s Weather Industry with a common goal of improving outdoor safety. Both AccuWeather and NWS ICT are continuing to utilize the latest research findings and events to collaboratively improve safety and reduce impact of weather both locally in Wichita, KS and across North America.
