Hall 4 (Phoenix Convention Center - West and North Buildings)
Fengyun-4A (FY-4A) was launched in December 2016, after that, the work our focus on was promptly turned to in-orbit test for instruments performance. Successively, data from AGRI, GIIRS and LMI was push forward to the operational utilization for weather monitoring from early May in this year, such as typhoon and rainstorm. Preliminary application results in these extreme weather processes were shown as following. First and foremost, high spatial and temporal resolution cloud animation has coherent monitoring for the evolutions of strong convection and typhoon, which is helpful to the details of small scale clouds. In the meantime, fy-4 / AGRI multi-channel image interpretation method for extreme weather was developed, which further enhances the abilities of distinguishing different scales cloud embedded in the strong convection and typhoon systems. What is more, combination with GIIS data, AGRI and GIIS data have been used to monitor the environment for convection genesis potential, it has very prospect for extreme weather now-casting.
