Wednesday, 9 January 2019: 2:15 PM
North 226AB (Phoenix Convention Center - West and North Buildings)
Gina M. Eosco, CNSP Support to NOAA/Office of Weather and Air Quality, Silver Spring, MD; and J. Sprague, J. Cortinas Jr., and D. Geppi

NOAA’s Office of Weather and Air Quality continues to make great strides in funding Social, Behavioral, and Economic Science research, while the National Weather Service continues to document operational challenges in need of research. Together, OWAQ and the NWS continue to evaluate how best to transition SBES research findings into application and share operational challenges to inform research. While there is no one size fits all solution to transitioning SBES research into application, this presentation will demystify how we think about R2O, highlight a few recent examples of success stories, and provide ideas on how to improve transitions with the NWS specifically.
