As part of the ongoing Texas Tech University Wind Engineering Mobile Instrumented Tower Experiment (WEMITE), researchers have continued to collect high-resolution meteorological data from landfalling tropical cyclones during 2000 and 2001. WEMITE deployments in Hurricanes Gordon (2000) and Michelle (2001) and Tropical Storm Gabrielle (2001), as well as summary statistics from each storm, will be discussed. Comparisons will be made between WEMITE wind speed data and regional C-MAN stations, as well as the Hurricane Research Division H*WIND analysis, where applicable. Additionally, since the WEMITE platforms employ wind sensors at multiple heights ranging from approximately 3-15 m, height adjustment techniques will also be verified in several cases. Finally, the groundwork for future projects utilizing Texas Tech mobile and portable systems in the tropical cyclone environment will also presented.
