The Joint Hurricane Testbed (JHT): Transitioning Research to Operations

New analysis and forecasting tools and techniques, developed by the research community, were being tested and evaluated during 2011 at the National Hurricane Center. Now in its eleventh year, the JHT continues to bridge emerging research with operations. We will discuss the new funded projects and the projects that were completed in 2011. These projects include upgrades to dynamical models and model components, enhancements to observed data and assimilation techniques and track forecasting algorithms to name a few. We want to expand awareness of the JHT and its collaborative activities, challenges, and impacts as well as encourage the ongoing participation of the research community.
