Testing proposed mechanisms of outflow control on tropical cyclone intensification

This talk will explore proposed mechanisms on outflow control of tropical cyclone intensification. We will conduct tests of these proposed mechanisms for the prototype intensification problem using a three-dimensional, cloud-permitting, numerical model. We will report on the plausibility of these proposed mechanisms and construct a scorecard comparing them with a recently articulated paradigm of tropical cyclone intensification.
