The National Hurricane Center hurricane specialists have noted a number of forecast biases over the years, including models being too slow in the deep tropics, too far right in the SW Gulf of Mexico, and too far left in the northern eastern Pacific. This talk will summarize historical biases that NHC forecasters have noted in both official forecasts and model guidance, investigate if the current ones are still valid during the past few years, and check areas that have been suspicious in recent years, including near Florida and the US East Coast.
