Oklahoma F (Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center )
Garrett William Layne, CIMMS/Univ. of Oklahoma, Norman, OK; and S. S. Williams, K. L. Ortega, T. M. Smith, and H. E. Brooks

The creation of the MYRORSS database allows for the creation of hail size estimates at approximately 1 km horizontal resolution across the contiguous United States at 5 minute update frequency. These hail estimates are based upon the Hail Detection Algorithm, which combines environmental data---the 0C and -20C heights---with vertical reflectivity profiles. This presentation will focus on the quality control process of the hail data and the generation of climatologies highlighting general hail, severe hail and significant-severe hail risk. Discussions on future work investigating more minute details of the climatology and comparisons to Storm Data will also be included.
