The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) steward the archive of historical Next Generation Radar - WSR-88D (NEXRAD) and Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) data, consisting of around 400 Terabytes (TB) of compressed files from 1991 to the present. These data include the raw volumetric base data, designated Level-2, and the derived products, designated Level-3. Between 50 and 100 Level-3 products are routinely available from NCEI, including precipitation estimates, storm relative velocity, tornado signatures, hail estimates, hydrometeor classification and echo tops. NCEI also provides visualization and interoperability tools which allow the conversion of Radar data into other common formats, including NetCDF and GIS formats. This presentation provides an overview of the current NCEI services provided for archiving, accessing and working with NEXRAD and TDWR Weather Radar data.
