The Meteorological Service of Canada is evaluating possible ways to develop an early weather warning system that will 1- improve risk communication to the public and, 2- enhance decision making within stakeholders (Meteorological Service, Emergency measures organizations, hydrological modeling groups, transportation Departments).

The talk will present a pilot project and its trial results. The discussion will address the topics of conveying the appropriate risk perception among the public, of the integration of prevailing societal and environmental vulnerabilities in the warning and of cross jurisdiction trade of expertise between organizations.
