Broadcast meteorologists, often seen as the station scientists, are asked to discuss a range of topics outside of weather. High on this list is climate information, ranging from shorter-term climate impacts and outlooks to long-term climate variability and change. This half-hour mini-workshop will equip broadcasters with strategies to address climate topics with their viewers and constituents. The focus of the presentation will be on differentiating weather and climate, selecting appropriate language, creating and using meaningful metaphors and narratives, and gaining background knowledge about climate information.
