K-12 science investigations that connect students to real-world situations by telling a story greatly increase the chance that learning will actually occur.
In 2003, the Texas Legislature passed a law requiring the improvement of science education to better prepare Texas students for success after high school.
The Texas Education Agency commissioned Texas A&M University to conduct a meta-analysis of national science education research to identify the most effective science instructional strategies.
When 390 studies were investigated and the results compiled, it was found that placing learning in context had the most powerful influence on learning.
