The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) celebrated the 20th anniversary of a Student Workshop in Atmospheric, Satellite, and Earth Sciences this year. This week-long event for high school students was started in 1991 by CIMSS scientists who wanted to share the excitement of scientific research and technology with the precollege community. Two decades later, many of these students are working in Earth Science careers, predominantly in the field of meteorology. This session will review significant milestones in the history of the CIMSS Student Workshop and highlight a few career trajectories influenced by this vital pipeline to the scientific community.
